Sustainability at Greenside

At the heart of every action we take lies the opportunity to make a positive impact on our planet. At Greenside, sustainability isn't just a buzzword; it's a commitment to nurturing and preserving the resources that sustain us all. By making mindful choices today, we can create a brighter, greener tomorrow for generations to come.

At Greenside Primary School, we are aiming to take action in our school and wider community to promote sustainability.

We aim to do this by:

  • Using produce grown in our garden for school lunches.

  • Ensuring all pupils in school make use of our green spaces and improve their appearance.

  • Getting involved in promoting sustainability through community projects.

Green Leader

Ms Stringer is Greenside's Green Leader. Her role is to guide, influence, and inspire others toward sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Our Garden

Our garden is well-organised, a testament to both functionality and aesthetics. It has raised vegetable beds which thrive, providing us with fresh produce throughout the seasons. The produce is used in pupils' lunches.

Eco Leaders

Eco Leaders at Greenside play a crucial role in promoting environmental awareness and sustainability amongst their peers and within the school community. We have an Eco Leader in every class from Year 1 to 6.

Community Action

We work alongside a few organisations and charities at Greenside who support our important sustainability work. These include:

  • School Food Matters - Through their national Young Marketeers programme Greenside pupils learn about local and environmental impacts of food surplus, grow their own vegetables, engage in food marketing education, and sell their harvests.
  • City Harvest
  • The Felix Project
